Abstraction

I may be initiating a pattern of capturing images with a macro lens during Thanksgiving around Newport Beach, California where my mother resides.  Many of you are familiar with the images I took last year during Thanksgiving in Hysler Park, Laguna Beach.  This year during the holiday, I walked through Sherman Gardens and Bonita Canyon – and the results are now on my website.

These images are virtually out of the camera – as is.  Of late, I have been interested in exploring abstraction and learning how to create that phenomenon with the use of light and a shallow depth of field in the camera alone.  I am interested in working with abstraction being that it allows me to move beyond merely capturing what is – as it is -- and enables me to create something else -- a new perspective, a new view -- which invites us to focus on the subject with new eyes.
