The meaning of my name
by Mummy and Daddy
Kyra - Kyra's name means 'light'. This is special because Kyra's nan gave Kyra the following Bible verse as a prayer: "Let your light shine before men so that they will see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven". That sums up our prayer for Kyra too - that her character will be a light to people, demonstrating God's care in a way that is accessible to others. Choosing this name also honours the special role of Nan in Kyra's life.
Grace - Kyra's middle name is to reflect our thankfulness to God - in that it has nothing to do with us and everything to do with God. We believe that it is with God's grace that we have been blessed with Kyra and our position in life. We also picked this name in the hope that Kyra herself will reflect God's grace to those around her.
Keet-Ling - We chose for Kyra to have a Chinese name because it is important to us that she has links with her Chinese heritage. Keet-Ling means 'pure in spirit' and was chosen by Sam's parents (ironically, for Katy - but we felt it summed up our prayer for Kyra's character). Choosing this name honours the special role of Kyra's grandparents in Kyra's life, as well as naming her after Katy (whose name 'Kathryn' means pure). Feel free to call Kyra 'Keet-Ling' as an alternative name.
