What is this class?
The United States Presidential Elections are approaching in less than 6 weeks. We will be exploring the issues that are important to the American people, and how the presidential candidates stand on these issues. We will explore how a person becomes a presidential candidate and the steps they must take to reach Election Day and the White House.
What will we learn?

*What is the Electoral College?
*How is polling conducted? and why?
*History of presidential elections and candidates
*The road to the White House – from primaries to Election Day
What will we do?
*Current events – through newspaper and Internet research
*Weekly discussions and reflections of opinions (as we become more informed citizens)
*Participate in the National Student/Parent Mock Election
*Create and conduct opinion polls
*Play games reinforcing election knowledge
*Write letters to the newly elected President of the United States
*Run a mock election in the classroom, from a mock Primary Election, to conventions, campaigning, debates, and finally a mock Election Day.
What is expected?

*Completing assigned homework (this will be light homework, such as finding news articles, or researching facts on a past president)
