MASTERWORKS CONCERT a thrill for all!
If you were fortunate to attend the Masterworks Concert on Monday, November 23, you experienced a unique musical evening at Saline High School. We are so grateful to Mr. Schut and the Chamber Orchestra for their collaboration on the Haydn Kleine Orgelmesse. And thanks to all the parent Craft Show volunteers and Cabaret supporters. Your generous contributions helped pay for the organ rental. Singers don’t usually get to perform with an orchestra and an organ. It was a very special occasion.
Many concert patrons also expressed their delight in hearing all the Copland Old American Songs in one program. We, too, are having a difficult time in choosing our favorite!

District Solo & Ensemble Application Deadline - December 16
Applications and fees for the MSVMA District 12 Solo & Ensemble Festival are due on Wednesday, December 16. Applications can be found by clicking on the PDF on the FORMS page.

Songwriter’s Showcase a tremendous success
Our first ever Songwriter’s Showcase filled the theater with electricity. The young composers performed their original compositions with creativity, beauty and pride. Thanks to Ms. Price, it was an evening we will never forget! And, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who donated so generously to our choir program that evening. Your donations will allow all the songwriters to receive a mastered CD of their performances. You also contributed to the operating expenses of our program.
We hope to make this concert an annual event!

SHS Choirs announce their own E-Store!
We now have our own E-Store for the purchase of navy blue polo shirts with the Saline logo. We have set up an E-Store with Lands End. Students and their parents can now go to

http://ces.landsend.com/Saline
to order shirts and other clothing or items with the Saline Choir logo. Items can be purchased 24/7 and will be delivered right to your door! This should make it easy for all choir members to get their navy polos ASAP. The Business Outfitters Store at Lands End has special offers at different times featuring free shipping, discounted pricing, and free logos. Check the website for these specials. It usually takes about 8-10 days for a shirt order to be processed.

WOW! Chamber Choir Girls at MYAF!
The Chamber Choir Girls performed at the 47th annual Michigan Youth Arts Festival held on the campus of Western Michigan University May 7-9. How did this happen? The Girls’ Ensemble received a first place rating at the District Festival, a first place rating at the State Festival, and were chosen as finalists by the adjudicators at the State Festival. THEN, their recording from the State Festival was submitted to a listening panel and they were selected along with eleven other ensembles from around Michigan for this most prestigious honor. It was a great day. WAY TO GO, GIRLS!

Why Music? Why Singing?
You may want to rethink your daily schedule after visiting these two wonderful sites that affirm the benefits and importance of music making and music education. It’s easy to say “we don’t have time for music, or we’re not good at music,” but in reality, life is just not complete without music. There has been a multitude of articles this fall reminding us that music not only makes you smarter, but is so very good for your health. More good reasons to sing everyday!
