The Basic Cruising course....
This course consists of three days of ashore and afloat sail training aboard a Catalina 30 sloop sailboat. We are conveniently located in False Creek at Stamps Landing and sail the waters of English Bay. While this course does start at a beginning level, it will be expected that the student will undertake some home study in order to boost confidence and knowledge. A CYA Basic Cruising Manual, Pleasure Craft Operator’s manual, Safe Boating Guide, Quick Reference Guide, and other resources will be provided for study.
Pleasure Craft Operator’s certification and CYA Basic Cruising Standard will be granted upon successful completion of ashore and afloat test.
This certification course will be taught in conjunction with the Canadian Yachting Learn to Cruise course. This will mean you will have credentials to operate and charter boats up to 30 feet for day sailing use.
Sailing is a life long learning sport and it is expected that upon completion of this course you will use your skills and continue to upgrade

Big thanks to Hugh for getting this motley crew through the exam/s and providing an excellent platform to sail on and launch our burgeoning careers. I for one learned a tremendous amount and am sincerely grateful for that. Go Telltales!” Jonathan (April 2010)
