in a chalice
gushing blood
Seven lambs
drink what
pours and overflows .

all brocade and embroidery
balance on its fingertips.
Above the backdrop
of forest and mountain
six angels hover
in a blue-green
cloud-filled sky
one holds a chalice
one holds a monstrance
four are cherubs.
God the Father
arms outstretched in benediction
reaches from the heavens.
