It is a great pleasure to invite you to the World Congress on human trafficking and forced labour 2012. The theme of this conference is: Combating Human And Sex Trafficking Worldwide. This topic not only invites us to reflect upon the basic and classical criminological ideas from a contemporary perspective, but also proposes to discuss their current transformation, modification, and new developments.

The world congress on human trafficking and forced labour is scheduled to take place from Monday 27 February to Thursday 1st march 2012 at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City and 5th to 8th march 2012 at Firenze Conference Center Vicenza Italy. The congress is hosted by the Campaign against Sex Trafficking and sponsored by other benevolent donors worldwide

Objectives of the world congress on human trafficking and forced labour objectives are:

1. To Increase awareness about the many types and ramifications of Human Trafficking
2. To serve as a resource to the public and advocates by providing valuable information about other initiatives working to address human Trafficking sex trafficking
3. To provide rehabilitation services to current and potential victims.
4. To encourage policy at local and national levels that will contribute to reducing human trafficking and abuse.
5. To provide insight in the activities in the field of science and policy interface;
6. To build a platform of knowledge at an international level;

83rd Annual Meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association (March 1 – 4, 2011), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
 
The 2012 Eastern Psychological Association meeting will be held on March 1-4 at the Westin Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.
 
EPA remains a bargain. The Membership dues of $60 and Associate dues of $25 (student members) includes the meeting. There are no other fees. Furthermore, the room rate at the Hyatt Regency is $179, not including tax (click here to book rooms at the Westin).

This is our final reminder to submit proposals to the Great Lakes Conference, March 23-24, Purdue University. The deadline for proposal submission is February 3rd. Please note that we do accept proposals for conceptual posters/papers.
 
As you'll see on our website (http://www.edst.purdue.edu/greatlakes/index.html), we have several very exciting invited sessions, for  students and faculty.  Most recently, we've organized a  session on “Late Stage Careers: Looking Where We Are and Where We Are Heading in Counseling Psychology.” Our speakers will be Andy Horne, John Westefeld and Roberta Nutt. As a side note, we are very pleased to celebrate our 10th year anniversary of Purdue Counseling Psychology Program APA accreditation with our first site visit chair in 2002 (Andy Horne), second site visit chair in 2007 (John Westefeld), and our 2006 Great Lakes conference keynote speaker at Purdue University (Roberta Nutt).
 
Our other exciting invited sessions are: keynote (Barry Chung, Globalization: Implications for Counseling Psychology), invited talk (Mark Leach, Ethics: What's Happening Internationally?), and suicide workshop  (John Westefeld, Suicide: Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention).

TOWARD A GLOBAL PSYCHOLOGY (April 12 – 14, 2012), St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, New York

This conference, Toward a Global Psychology, will begin on Thursday, April 12, with Keynote Speaker Michael J. Stevens telling us "What Terriosts Really Want and Why They Fail." A reception will follow. You are invited to give a presentation at the conference; the deadline for abstract submissions March 9th. A portion of accepted submissions and presentations will also be invited for inclusion in an upcoming scholarly volume tentatively titled “International Psychology in War and Peace.”

Dr. Gregory T. Papanikos (President of the Athens Institute for Education and Research & Visiting Professor, University of Strathclyde, U.K.) and Dr. Thanos Patelis, Head, Psychology Research Unit, ATINER & Vice President of Research and Analysis, The College Board, USA would like to invite you to submit a proposal for presentation at the 6th Annual International Conference on Psychology, 28-31 May 2012, Athens, Greece. The registration fee is €300 (euro), covering access to all sessions, two lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Call for Papers: 10th John Jay International Conference (June 6-9, 2012, John Jay College, New York City)

I am writing to invite you to attend the 10th John Jay International Conference to be held June 6-9, 2012 in our new building located on 10th/11th Avenue and 58/59 streets!

I am Co-Chairing this conference with my colleague Dr. Michele Galietta, co-Director of the Forensic Psychology PhD Program. Please take a moment to read the call to see if any of your work is relevant, or if you can think of colleagues of yours who might contribute.

The theme of the conference is Global Perspectives on Justice, Security and Human Rights.

We are interested in a wide variety of topics relating to criminal justice, psychology, criminal justice and human rights. Topics include prison conditions, treatment in forensic settings, treatment of torture survivors, human trafficking, the death penalty, dissemination of evidence-based treatment in forensic settings, racial bias, poverty, ethical issues related to psychology and law, mental health disability law, therapeutic jurisprudence. We are interested in presentations from practitioners, as well as scholars. Fifth International Conference on Psychology Education (July 22-27, 2012), Cape Town, South Africa

I am pleased to inform you that Fifth International Conference on Psychology Education (ICOPE) will be held in Cape Town, South Africa, from 22-27 July 2012, in affiliation with International Congress of Psychology (ICP).  We found this beneficial to organize ICOPE at the same time and venue as ICP. For purposes of this meeting, ICOPE has been identified as Division 42 of ICP.
 
The ICP 2012 abstract submission is now open. The first deadline for early abstract submission is 1 May 2011. This early date for abstract submission is designed to accommodate applicants who require early confirmation that their presentations have been accepted for funding purposes. The notification for early abstract submissions is July 2011.

Please note: the Academic and Academic Medicine application reflected an error in the ‘Supporting Documents’ section. A change has been made to reflect the appropriate requirement of one letter of recommendation from a person most familiar with your leadership aspirations and potential (preferably from a Dean or your Department Chair) which addresses how she or he envisions your leadership role(s) in the next two years.
 
The American Psychological Association Committee on Women in Psychology (CWP) announces its fifth annual Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology to be held on  Monday, July 30, Tuesday, July 31 and August 1, 2012 in Orlando, FL and March 2013 in Washington, DC.  This year we are accepting approximately 30 mid-career women psychologist who work full time in academic/academic medical settings, and approximately 30 mid-career women psychologists who work primarily in clinical or consulting settings. Mid-career women psychologists in leadership roles in integrated primary care settings in academic health centers, public, community or private sectors are encouraged to apply as well. This is a competitive process.  Please complete the application for the group with which you most clearly identify and meet the eligibility criteria discussed below.
 
The overall mission of the LIWP is to empower, prepare and support women psychologists as leaders to promote positive changes in institutional, organizational and practice settings as well as APA and State, Provincial, and Territorial Associations (SPTA) governance, and increase the diversity, number, and effectiveness of women psychologists as leaders. The program’s mission supports APA’s goal to advance psychology as a science and profession and as a means of promoting health, education and human welfare.
 
The APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology has several objectives:
 
1.       Ensure that mid-career and senior women in psychology have the knowledge and skills necessary to compete for leadership/senior management positions in academic, practice, and other professional settings as well as APA and SPTA governance.
 
2.       Enhance the number and effectiveness of women psychologists holding leadership positions in academic, practice, and other professional settings as well as APA and SPTA governance.
 
3.       Increase the diversity of women psychologists in academic, practice, and other leadership positions as well as APA and SPTA governance.
 
4.       Create networks of women psychologists in leadership/senior management positions in varied professional settings including APA and SPTA governance.
 
5.       Document the career movement, professional advancement as well as the perceived impact of the LIWP among participants.
 
 
Who Should Apply?
 
Mid-career (10-20 years post-doctoral degree) women psychologists who are APA members with demonstrated leadership experience, strengths and goals:
 
a)      holding either full-time, paid faculty appointments at the associate professor or clinical associate professor level or above in academic or academic medicine settings
 
Or
 
b)      working 20 or more hours per week primarily in clinical or consulting  settings. If you are in a clinical setting, you must be a licensed psychologist to apply to the LIWP.
 
Or
 
c)       if you are more than 20 years post-doctoral degree but view yourself as mid-career and not senior, provide careful justification for your application as a mid-career psychologist in academic, academic medical, clinical or consulting settings.          
 
Women of color, lesbian and bisexual women, transgender women, and women with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
 
Program components
 
·         Highly interactive, skills-focused workshops with experts in the field.  The core curriculum includes:
·         Leadership Models
·         Mid-Career Management, Goal Setting and Planning
·         Negotiation Skills
·         Mentoring Networks, including gender and diversity issues
 
Previous Institutes and Web seminars during the year have also addressed:
 
·         Sustaining and Funding a Research Program
·         Fiscal, Program, and Personnel issues
·         Managing Work-Life Balance
·         Strategic Planning
·         Dealing with Difficult People
 
Individuals who participate will leave with clearly defined professional goals and identify next steps towards promotion and leadership positions.
 
Applications and supporting materials (CV or resume and one letter of recommendation) are due by 5:00 pm eastern time on Monday, March 12, 2012.  Applications submitted after the deadline or incomplete applications will not be considered. Please complete either the application for mid-career women in academic and academic medical settings or the application for mid-career women in clinical and consulting settings. The applications are not the same. You may also print out the completed application and: either fax it with accompanying documents to the Women's Programs Office at (202) 336-6117 or send an email with your name and the track to which you are applying in the subject line.
 
If selected, participants will be asked to pay a $600 fee, which covers registration, program materials, and food (breakfast, lunch and snacks). In addition, participants are expected to attend a follow-up leadership program in March 2013 at the APA headquarters in Washington, DC; and complete questionnaires on an annual basis regarding career advancement and leadership training needs. Participants are also invited to Web seminars on leadership issues throughout the year; and have access to a list serve for LIWP participants, faculty and staff.
 
Selections will be announced by Monday, May 9, 2012.

First Call: International Conference on Motivation 2012 (August 28 – 30, 2012), Frankfurt am Main, Germany

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to participate in the International Conference on Motivation 2012, August 28-30.

The Conference is jointly organized by EARLI SIG 8 and the DIPF. We hope that the 2012 ICM conference will bring together all researchers who are interested in better understanding human motivation e.g. from learning,
school, sport, occupational, developmental, and social psychology.

Following the tradition established in Landau (2006) and continued in Turku (2008) and Porto (2010), the ICM 2012 will be preceded by a Summer School for young researchers interested in topics related to motivation and emotion.

Invited keynote speakers at the International Conference on Motivation 2012 are: Kurt VanLehn (Arizona State University), Judith Harackiewicz (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Mimi Bong (Korea University) and Peter Gollwitzer (New York University).
