Welcome

This book discussion group began in the Spring of 2003 and has been meeting ever since as one of the many Women’s Ministry small groups. Our book selections are a “mixed bag” of fiction and non-fiction. Some are classics, some best-sellers, some controversial, some funny and others down right quirky! They all make for interesting discussions! We hope you’ll visit often! Welcome!

Book Selections

Throughout the year everyone is encouraged to bring along to any meeting a book they think would be good for future discussion or e-mail a recommended book title. Every fall the group collectively votes from those submissions, selecting ten that will make up the reading list for the coming year. Be sure and check our past and present reads to avoid duplicates.

Dinner & a Movie

On occasion we’ve had our book discussion surround viewing a movie of the same title. We set the meeting time an hour earlier, and collectively do something about dinner. For example, one time in keeping with “The Good Earth”, a story set in China, we had a Chinese take-out pot-luck. Individual hosts choose whether their hosted meeting is a Dinner & a Movie night or a book review only night. Another option is to have a movie viewing one night (which may or may not include dinner - maybe it’s just a big batch of popcorn!) and the book discussion another night. Again, it’s all up to the host!
