... You Asked For It, You Got It!

1. Think Rotary Youth Exchange meets Speed Dating.

2.  When you register for the conference:

        a.  you state four topics on which you're "Needie"; and

        b.  you state four topics on which you're "Smartie".

3. As a Needie, you're telling us that you need wisdom, knowledge, ideas, information, suggestions, support, etc., on certain youth exchange topics. For example, you might be a Needie on "1. how to recruit the right kind of students for outbound programs; 2. where do I find host families; 3. how to handle difficult inbound students; and 4. how to do inbound orientations". When you register, you state four topics -- any four you want -- on which you're a Needie.

4. As a Smartie, you're telling us that you have wisdom, knowledge, ideas, information, suggestions, experience, etc., on certain youth exchange topics. For example, you might be a Smartie on "1. how to do outbound interviews and selections; 2. outbound counselor's duties; 3 working with local high schools to help inbounds adjust; and 4. using web technology to administer youth exchange programs." When you register, you state four topics -- any four you want -- on which you're a Smartie.

6. From now through July 15, we'll review: (a) all registered Needie topics, and (b) all registered Smartie topics.

On July 16, we'll plan 4-to-6-person discussions connecting: (a) individual Needies, with (b) topic-similar Smarties.

On Saturday, July 19, between 12:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., you'll have 5 fifty-minute sessions:

1.     1. a small-group session on your first Needie topic, word-for-word, and related topics; and
   

2.     2. a small-group session on your second Needie topic, word-for-word, and related topics; and
   

3.     3. a small-group session on your third Needie topic, word-for-word, and related topics; and
   

4.     4. a small-group session on your fourth Needie topic, word-for-word, and related topics; and
   

5.     5. a small-group session, that you will lead, on or related to one of your four Smartie topics.
   

7. So, after your customized Saturday afternoon sessions, it really will be: "... You Asked For It, You Got It!"
