Commissioned by Willmott Dixon this project involved making an oak, resin, bronze and wrought iron wall panel plus an Oak height measuring post for the new  Wyesham primary school in Monmouth.

The wall panel’ pictorial imagery is based on drawings the school children produced during design workshops at their old school. They drew images depicting historical and contemporary Monmouth. These drawings were combined into one design which was then modeled in clay and cast into Jesmonite resin. Oak branches collected from local woodlands were shaped and joined to produce the frame surrounding the panel into which a series of eight bronze roundels was inserted. The roundels were also based on the children’ drawings. Blacksmith David Yallop produced four decorative wrought iron brackets which were used to attach the panel to the wall.

The Oak, height measuring post was carved from a 400 year old farmhouse beam and installed in the playground of the school.
