The “Ride” is a planned 3,160 mile bicycle trek from San Diego, California, to St. Augustine, Florida, scheduled to start on Sunday, March 30th.  Because I am 59 years old, it is hard to tell just when it might end... I hope before I’m 60!  I am hoping to average 100 miles each day.  Daily postings to this website (the BLOG page) will keep you informed if you are interested in following my progress.

ALL donations to this cause are made directly to either the University of California at San Francisco, Melanoma Center, or to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio, specifically for scientific research.  Your donations are tax deductible.  I am paying all my own expenses, so 100% of your donations are going to research.

There are five pages in this website that you may access in the menu at the top of this page.  They are:

1.  Melanoma: describes the disease, provides links to medical websites and introduces you to Kristen Taylor-Cameron.

2.  Spina Bifida:  describes the disease, gives links to more in-depth information, and introduces you to Grace Glaros.

3.  The Bike:  provides information about the recumbent bicycle that will be used in this challenging adventure.

4.  Donations:  gives all the information you need to make a donation so that it gets to the right place.

5.  BLOG:  when the ride begins, we will try to post regular updates so that progress can be followed as I ride.  For now, I’ll make a blog entry each week.

If ever you have offered to help, only to find that there really isn’t anything you could do, this is your opportunity.   Together, we can help the fight to cure melanoma and spina bifida. We give thanks for your support in this endeavor.

Introduction to this website

Ray’s Ride is dedicated to the effort of raising money for the medical research of Melanoma Cancer and the birth defect, Spina Bifida.   This effort is a tribute to my daughter, Kristen Taylor-Cameron who has fought melanoma since 2003, and to my granddaughter Grace Glaros, born February 14th, 2008, with spina bifida.  So... this challenge might aptly be named, “The Great Race for Kristen and Grace.”
