Well we went in to visit the surgeon the next morning and he scheduled me for surgery the same afternoon. Dr. Bacon is a Sports Medicine Specialist - and he knows his stuff.  So at 3:00 PM When he showed up for surgery, I asked him if he had time to get by a second-hand store to pick up a “left-hand” part - since he was going to be in there doing all this reconstruction I thought maybe he could sew on a new left hand. He said “No. There hadn’t been enough time for that, but he did have some surprises for me!” They wheeled me into the surgery room and said “Okay, now you will feel a slight prickly sensation and then you will be out like a lightbulb” And thats all I remember.
