And so the journey begins

Because I am partial to warm weather, I chose Mesa, AZ as the first destination only because I know of many people that have chosen that as a place to live - God only knows why.  This is one of the many places I have never visited but that says little having been an occupational recluse my entire life so what the heck, I'll figured I may as well give it a try.

So I, under my non de plume of Seymour, at 7:30 AM on the morning of Jan, 15th, 2006 fire up the rig, Audrey II (has everyone here seen "Little Shop of Horrors"?), and point her south toward Sin City so as to close that recent  chapter of my life that involved St George, UT. The first leg of the trip is a familiar one to me that has been traversed many times before. Traveling through the Virgin River Gorge as one enters the AZ strip, regardless of the season, is a treat but I believe late Spring is best.

RVer tip: Should you travel this way there are camping sites, sans facilities, at at Cedar Break (Exit 18) for  a fee but there is some boondocking space west of I-15 at The Black Rock Road exit (Exit 27).

This is a destination trip so today we stay with the Interstate system but for those that travel this route I strongly suggest taking the scenic route which is a little slower but well worth the trip as you travel along Lake Mead and the Valley of Fire and a couple interesting oases in the desert.

Anyway, the trash along the road tells me that I‘m approaching Sin City and I tale the cutoff to to head toward Boulder City and promptly screw up on a turn. Lemonade comment:Saw the results of the old Dunes Hotel implosion. Finally cross Hoover Dam and enter AZ on Rte. 93
