Welcome to Italy!
We hope you enjoy sharing our two month adventure in Italy.
Phil and I decided that when she was no longer working, we would rent an apartment in a place we never got to spend enough time in and stay there in order to integrate into the community. We chose the province of Le Marche on the Adriatic coast of Italy. My grandparents emigrated from Le Marche at the turn of the last century. It is little visited and remains much as it always was. A link to more information is www.le-marche.com. We hope to improve our Italian, as little English is spoken there. We chose San Benedetto del Tronto as our base. It is on the Tronto River, the border between Le Marche and the Abruzzo provinces. It is located very near two wonderful Italian Renaissance towns, Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. Our apartment is on the beach, and we plan to walk and beach comb every morning, and sip wine on our terrace every evening as the sun goes down. We will take short trips to Puglia, Molise and Abruzzo. We plan to visit as much of The Marche as possible, and eat in many of the tiny country osterias.
