Old Hollow Maple
Monday, June 23, 2008
This tree is a testament to the tenacity of trees. The old maple tree is in Lake Oswego. Unfortunately, it had seen its share of poor pruning in the modern age. With the amount of decay it was considered for removal but we chose to reduce the canopy height and weight to prolong its existence a bit longer. Trees don’t have to be removed as often as we think.
That’s me in the trunk.
Its said that an old hermit used to reside in this tree. Its estimated to be about 500 years old.
If they could only tell us a story or two.
