THE Becker Project

April 28-30,2008

We were invited to visit Mr and Mrs Becker’s property in Sherwood.  A spectacular three acres that they have enjoyed for 20 plus years. In that time though their trees grew. Our project was to increase the availability of sunlight through the trees. The home had little sunlight in the winter and was intermittent in the Spring and Summer. As most of us would agree, by the time April rolls around we could all use a ray of sunshine.

The trees in the project were Oregon Big Leaf Maple, Western Red Cedar and Doug Fir. Our objective was to Crown Raise the Cedars to a new canopy level of about 35 feet.  The idea was to allow the Southerly Winter light to be let through just under the new canopy level and into the back of the home.

Sunshine is good.  A view to the South with Sean and a rake. And a photo from the back yard looking SE toward the shed-note its the same angle as the heading photo. The shed and more light.

Thanks to the Becker family for their confidence in our work!
