ART IS...Shaping Memory
Memory is key to identity, and memories can shape a child’s perception of his/her self in relationship to the world. When children are taught to use the materials of art making — text, images, sound and movement — and given the space, time and freedom to connect learning to their personal experience — they also learn to think AND feel, on their own, for themselves. Through artistic process and reflection, memory shapes the possibilities for the present and the future.

Art Is... INNOVATION

This year at Rooftop, our students will discover that Art Is... INNOVATION.

With art, your child can soar with Walt Disney and Pixar, swing with Satchmo and Shelby, roar with Sendak’s Wild Things, mix magic potions with San Francisco Opera, puzzle over things missing with Ruth Asawa and Maya Lin, and realize the vision of the great muralists  Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros with Josef Norris.

We will discover how the arts define, imagine, and continue to shape our world, when every child captures the spirit of innovation.
