Overview
Guitarist/producer Ron Murray has been a professional in the music business for 40 years. His latest CD release is Romanza, on the Whaling City Sound label, which has received excellent reviews and airplay across the U.S. and Canada. Romanza features his working trio Vuelo, with Arti Dixson.
As a free-lance guitarist, he has appeared on stages from Boston, Mass. to Cordoba, Spain, solo and with groups as large as the Boston Pops. As a classical/flamenco soloist, he has played hundreds of concerts, as well as restaurant and nightclub dates, wedding ceremonies and corporate dinners. He has also arranged and recorded guitar parts for new Broadway shows, and works the Boston-New York axis with occasional runouts to Florida, Canada and the West Coast, playing the 7-string guitar (both classical and electric) in solo and ensemble situations. Ron has recently accompanied Tony Award-winning singer Kelly O’Hara in concert, and is also Music Director for vocalists Dominic DePasquale in Providence and Christine Cooney in Mystic.
Ron’s latest solo project is a concert presentation called The Flamenco Influence, designed for intimate concerts at libraries, schools, house concerts and senior facilities. Ron is also a member of Trio Amaroso, a World Beat/Jazz group featuring Jim Porcella on vocals and percussion, and Michael Monaghan on saxophone, performing chamber jazz with Brazilian, Flamenco and North African influences, but with a repertoire of familiar standards and originals.
