"The relationship between commitment and doubt is by no means an antagonistic one.
Commitment is the healthiest when it is not without doubt but in spite of doubt."

FOUNDERS' LETTER

Our Summer Newsletter highlights RockRose partners and World Forum participants who are advancing our mission to promote non-violent conflict resolution – moving from conflict to connection. For some that journey never ends. For others, like one Steadfast participant, it happens in a flash. Sadly and regrettably, for some it never begins. Miraculously, for others, like Alice, the World Forum participant who spoke about the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide, the journey is taken step-by-step, powered forward by the sublime remembrances of her lost family and the horrific remembrances of the Rwandan genocide that took the lives of her entire community 15 years ago; by loss and love; and by a commitment to live fully and work for peace. We hope these stories inspire you to find new ways to move from conflict to connection.

WORD FROM ALICE

For those who doubt love can prevail over revenge, please read the article linked below written by Alice on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. Alice was a World Forum participant and honored guest who, along with Elie Wiesel and Rabbi Lee Bycel discussed A Dialogue with Elie Wiesel: Humanitarian Intervention/Just Use of Force?

Steadfast 09 –Anothhorses 2009er Success!
Eye-opening, truly awesome, exciting, refreshing, powerful, the purest form of communication I have ever experienced, from my heart! These are a few of the comments from enthusiastic participants following the Steadfast three-day workshop held earlier this month in Nicasio. For the second year, demand exceeded space. Fourteen participants worked with seven horses to experience how to use the conflict in their lives to create greater connection to themselves, to others and to their communities. Stay tuned next Newsletter for comments by enthusiastic participants and to learn more about Steadfast's future plans.

Founder Maja Ramsey and RockRose friend Patty Duetting will donate all Steadfast profits to RockRose. We are grateful to both of them for this generosity and for furthering RockRose's mission in such a creative and powerful way.

The Professional BusinessWomen of California.
In May, the Founders of RockRose Institute presented a conflict resolution workshop at the 20th Anniversary of the Professional BusinessWomen of California conference in San Francisco. The program, “From Conflict to Connection,” interactively engaged 300 attendees in four communication practices - listening, emotion identification, truth-telling and remaining open - designed to stretch their comfort level and strengthen their skills in working with conflict. To hear a recording of this presentation, please contact RockRose at office@rockroseinstitute.org. To read the associated "From Conflict to Connection, 6 Principles for Success at Work," published in the PBWC Connections Magazine, go to http://www.pbwcconnections.com/text/DeptConnect/connect_conflicttoconnection_rockrose.html.
