Narrative Biography
How privileged, honored and excited I am to be a final candidate! I truly feel “called” to be your Bishop as I believe the people, strengths and challenges of the Diocese wonderfully match my faith, personality, pastoral and leadership skills.
I am passionate about the Good News in Jesus Christ. My faith, spirituality, preaching, energy, enthusiasm and humor are contagious because they are based on Jesus’ promise “I have said these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”
My insight and skills as a compassionate pastor to clergy and lay people have been sharpened by my 32 years as a priest and pastor, 26 years as an AAPC psychotherapist, D. Min, and membership on the Pastoral Team for Congregations/Clergy in Crisis. Understanding individuals, groups, and congregations enables me to effectively lead through conflict and change.
I have 32 years experience serving all types of churches: rural, city, suburban; struggling, stable, growing. A graduate of Hobart, I am familiar with the area.
You will be able trust in my life-long style of listening, observing and creating perceptive visions to respond to needs, problems and challenges. I will work together with you to inspire and create strategies and actions to make the visions come true.
You can rely on my commitment to justice, inclusion and community action, as I strive to “seek and serve Christ in all people, respecting the dignity of every human being”.
I cherish and adore my wife Heidi and my children Jimmy, Jennifer and Becky.
