Narrative Biography
I was born and raised in New Haven, CT. in a neighborhood of Irish and Italian immigrants. Our lives were shaped and enriched by family, neighbors, and Church. We didn’t have much in the areas of material goods but we learned to appreciate the meaning of community and faith.
It seems that from my earliest days I learned the value of the importance of faith being engaged with everyday life. The integration of theology and faith with the critical issues we face has always been a central focus of my life and ministry.
I became a member of the Episcopal Church in 1979. In 1988 I graduated from General Theological Seminary and in 2003 received my Doctorate in Ministry. My area of study for the D.Min. was Anglican Theology and Reconciliation.
Having been a parish rector for 17 years I have become keenly interested in seeing parishes and faith communities grow as centers of hospitality, hope and trust. I bring this passion to the Diocese of Rochester.
My deep concern is centered on leading parishes to be open and inclusive communities where the Good News of Jesus Christ speaks to all the Holy People of God. I would direct particular energies to develop creative ministries for and with youth.
I am married to Carol, an elementary school teacher in the Santa Fe Public Schools, and the father of Jeremiah, an actor living in New York City.
