Plough Monday History And Research

More historical information will be added in due course.

Cambridgeshire And Huntingdonshire History

Cambridgeshire is most fortunate in having probably the most comprehensive descriptions of Plough Monday anywhere in the country.  The individuals largely responsible for this were two remarkable women, Enid Porter, the curator for many years of the Cambridge and County Folk Museum and Sybil Marshall, novelist and pioneering educationalist from Ramsey Heights. Please see our Sybil Marshall and Enid Porter pages for more details.

School Log Books

Norfolk Our World Festivals have been lucky enough to work in many Cambridgeshire Primary Schools. They have been collecting references from School Log Books giving important historical information about when schoolchildren were involved in Plough Monday antics. See our School Log Book pages for more information.

Other Records

Whilst we were searching for Plough Monday references we found some Huntingdon court records describing the antics of some farm labourers from the villages North of St Neots.
