We would like to thank everyone for the kind and compassionate words, and for all of the stories shared with us in our time of loss. We truly appreciate the efforts of those who have assisted with today’s service and would also like to acknowledge all of the other unsung efforts, flowers, and financial contributions.

We are especially grateful to those of you who helped with the dogs and the Birchwood lot clean up. You epitomize the Alaskan camaraderie that so many of you discovered in our father and we are proud to have met you.

Your giving responses to our loss have been expressed with a love and sorrow that mirrors our own. It is comforting to see how many of you loved and appreciated our father, his gentleness, wisdom, patience, warmth, wit, and even quirks as well as all of the other fascinating characteristics that made him so unique. He was a special spirit and a true friend and we assure you he felt blessed to have known all of you as well.

We wish we could thank each and every one of you personally for your expressions of care, each one immeasurably precious, yet it is likely that even if we could have recorded all of the names and acts of kindness, there wouldn’t be enough room to write them all down. Please accept that we have seen, heard, and received all of your blessings and condolences and have been both strengthened and honored.

Thank you all so much for being here with us, as you were with him.

Eternally grateful,

Robin, Kenneth, Norman, and Heather MacAlpine
