I am interested in playing with the interaction between daily life and concepts of consciousness - in relation to the constituent parts of 21st Century experiences, particularly those connected to issues of interconnectivity via new technologies, TV, music and fashion, et al which amalgamate to help form fluid individual identities for Generation-'whatever-we-are-now'ers. This includes design and the visual environment surrounding us with commercial bombardment. At the other end, the reinjection of the individualistic and hand made. My work involves exploring through visual means the grey area between the opposing ideas of probabilistic states encouraged by these things (including an odd connection to past, present, and future) and experiential experience. In quantum mechanics there have been experiments, such as the famous double slit experiment, that show that the observing person effects the collapse of the particle/wave function into one probabilistic state of either 'choice' into a singular one. I like to think of my work, and of the process in which I make my work, in a similar way. I consciously take gathered images, drawings, photographs, and graphics and "collapse" them into a piece. There is a certain calculated degree of repetition in my work. This is because I sometimes think of my different pieces as manifested, probabilistic versions of a single painting, as if we actually see the numerous super-positions of the piece, and therefore in a constant re-creating of the piece at any time in a somewhat 'Multiverse' manner.
