Opus 17
Opus 17
Pipes are being polished, gilded and installed. The identification plaques have been affixed for the toe pistons. The pipe gilding is going much faster than expected, thanks to the help of several transfiguration people who are doing a great job. The façade pipes will be continue to be, polished, gilded and installed in their final home in the front of the case. The wind system is installed, the mechanical key action is hooked up and regulated and the electronic combination system and stop action are wired and programmed. Bruce Fowkes will begin winding and voicing the façade (“Principal”) pipes as soon as those systems are up and running. By one month after the installation, he hopes to have the first pipes of the organ making a “joyful noise to the Lord.” Between the 9:00 and 11:15 a.m. services, come meet Bruce in the choir gallery, where he will explain the installation process in detail and answer questions as he did last Sunday.
