Last weekend my wife and I journeyed cross the Kansas plains from Colorado to attend my 40th high school reunion.  That’s right - 40!  It was a lot of fun, but I couldn’t figure out who all those old people were.  It was great to see old friends that meant so much to me so many years ago.  Some people might say these are friends I’ve known for a long time, but in reality, they are friends I knew for a short time, a long time ago.  I haven’t stayed in close touch with anyone in my class through the years.  Most of my friends that I’ve been close to for the last twenty-five years are people I met after high school.  Most of them are people I’ve come to know and love and share my life with after the day in 1970, when as a junior in college I met my best friend - Jesus.  But the reunion was fun.  Ali and I spent a whole day driving around the neighborhoods of my youth and looking at my old schools.  I think of those who have never moved from Kansas City and I can’t even imagine what life would have been like if I had been one of them.  I hope I stay in touch with some of these lovely people I reconnected with.  And if you are trying to decide whether or not to attend your reunion - let me encourage you - there is life after high school!

This is a picture of me at my 40th high school reunion.  The sweater is my actual high school letter sweater that was tucked away in storage and pulled out for the event.  I don’t know who all those old people are behind me.

High School Reunion
