I completed my second run today and it went very good. The weather is still terrible, When I went running I started with 92º and a humidity of 56%. When I finished, the temperature had climbed to 97º. However, I loaded up with a quart of water about 2 hours before and that made the flight a lot easier.
I also took along Maggie this trip to see how she did with me running. She did very good, so I think I'll take her a lot more often. She did get really hot though, so I took three extra breaks to water her down.
My flight today was a modification of my first week routine with a time of about 50 minutes rather then the usual 20 minutes. However, most of the last 20 minutes was at a brisk walk. I was able to burn over 500 calories which was nice. Now I have to hope I don't put them back on with wine night.
The route I took today was through the University of California, Davis's Arboretum, a beautiful serpentine park to the south of the main campus. The trails are a mixed grade with a good amount of shade and beautiful scenery. It is one of my favorite places in the area.
Next run, Tuesday 7/25/06.
