Hello and Welcome to the new season 2007/08

So what can we expect, what changes are there? Well for a start there are some new faces and some old familiar faces on the committee this year, we have introduced two members of the mini section onto the main committee so that the mini and juniors now have a say and an input in the running of the club. We have also made the four ball lottery available for all factions of the club to sell and benefit from, our last years chairman, Paul Naldrett has kindly taken this on along with Marie Jones (last years mini's secretary), so if you have any queries or need tickets, please contact them.

This year the emphasis is to generate money so we can improve the facilities at the club and make it the preferred place for youngsters and senior players to play their rugby. So where do we get the money from? Well this is where everyone who comes to the club has a part to play, from senior committee members to the aunty who has come to watch their nephew or niece play on a Sunday. As i have already mentioned, the four ball has been a proven way of raising money, so for every £1 ticket you buy or sell, a percentage will go in to the improvement account which has been set up this year. Other monies that also go into this account will be from sponsorship and some of the money raised at this years marquee dance, so this pot is already building up. The money in this account will only ever be used on improving the club, whether it be a new television or a new roof, it wont be used for paying club bills or players and as we have a representative on the main committee from every faction of the club, you get to have your say on how we spend the money. We are hoping to up our bar takings from last year (Not that i am encouraging anyone to indulge) as we do depend on money we take over the bar and already the mini and junior section have arranged to have a show once a month and also the senior players are doing the same. So with the "grab a granny" who's shows are going very well, the club is booked up for 3 out of 4 Saturday's a month, but if anyone has got ideas on filling the remaining Saturday, please come forward.

If anyone wishing to sponsor the club can now fill in a sponsorship form and these are available from myself, Allen Candy, Rod Jones, Anthony Gunning and Jimmy Evans for the senior section and Grayson for the mini and junior section. These forms will allow you to chose where your sponsorship goes and who benefits from it. So on that note, i would like to thank Daniel Contractors Ltd. for again being our main sponsor. Dragon Wear for our new kit which will be worn for the first time in our home game in the Konica Minolta Cup against Trefil on the 29th September.

I would like to wish all our teams and players from 8's to seniors a very successful, injury free season. Our coaches at all levels an enjoyable one and our captains from the 3 foot ones to our 6 foot 6" Chris Bax, a season to be proud of. If all these do well, it will give the rest of the club a memorable season.

Only one more thing to say which you hear from every Chairman...MEMBERSHIP IS NOW DUE! This you can pay at the club any day and every committee member will be happy to take it from you.
