On the second weekend of the season the Under 15's played Llantrisant in a close, bruising encounter that saw the Black Army win 10 - 5, with Jarred Jones scoring for Cynon. Llantrisant dominated the first half but excellent defence from Cynon limited the score before Cynon asserted themselves more in the second half.

Under 14's Cynon 25 - Risca 0
Cynon travelled to Risca today and produced some fine rugby to match the weather. Cynon were slow starting and made life difficult for themselves in the first half but by the second they had found their form and dominated in all areas of the game. The forwards scrummaged and rucked very well and gave some excellent ball to the backs who were able to show their pace and agility. 2 tries came from the forwards through Tom Boswell with a hatrick for Dion Sheehan playing at full back.
Under 14's Cynon 56 - Rhumney 5
In freezing cold conditions these teams did their best to play some expansive rugby and put on a crowd pleasing show. The game was a bit one sided with cynon being dominant up front and their backs being pacier and more skillful. Cynon ran in 10 cracking tries with equal contributions from the backs and forwards. However, Rhumney hung in there and played doggedly to the end being rewarded with an exclellent try of their own. Cynon try scorers were Tom Boswell, Jarrod Jones, Jake Edwards, Jake Rattray, Kieran Jones, Dion Sheehan, Sam Evans, Tom Robinson, and 2 from James Nicholas. James Jones also successfully kicked 3 conversions.

Under 14’s Abercynon 29 – Gilfach Goch 15
The first half of this game was very tight with little between the teams and a ferocious battle going on up front. However, the second half saw Cynon dominant in the scrum and gaining better possession in the breakdown area allowing the back row to make some good runs, in particular Jake Rattray was impressive, with the backs also getting the opportunity to show their pace and handling skills. Tries came from Jake Rattray 2, Jake Edwards, Dion Sheehan and James Nicholas who also kicked 2 conversions.
Sunday 13th January
Under 14's Abercynon 37 - Ynysybwl 5
A return to form for this team who dominated throughout despite a brave come back from Ynysybwl in the second half. Tries from Jarrod Jones 2, Dion Sheehan 2, Jake Rattray, James Lee and Jarrod brown with one conversion from James Nicholas.
Sunday 25th November
Under 14's Abercynon 24 - Tondu 24
This was a very exciting game to watch since it was clear that the teams were well matched and it was anyones game right to the end. Tondu took the lead initially but Cynon came back shortly afterwards with some excellent forward play that culminatied in a try from the prop Lewis Rees. Tondu then took the lead again with a cracking try of their own but failed to convert. James Nicholas, cynon's outside half then took them into the lead by crossing the line and converting his own try. Tondu then scored 2 tries in quick succession both of which they converted and it looked as if cynon were out of the match. Cynon kept their heads up, however, and played with grit and determination to score another try through Jake Rattray and a further from Dion Sheehan with the all important conversion kicked by James Nicholas. Cynon managed to maintain possession for the final few minutes and looked like scoring again but were held out by some tenacious! Tondu defense. The draw seemed a fair result in the end.
Sunday 4th November 2007
Under 13's Abercynon 5 - Ystrad Mynach 53
This was a very physical game with Ystrad Mynach having a clear weight advantage in the forwards. Despite this cynon forwards competed well in the first half, however, they tired during the second half having to defend continually and being unable to secure any good posession which meant that the backs didnt see much of the ball. One excellent try for cynon scored by Dion Sheehan.
Under 14's Cynon 54 - Rhymney 0
An excellent all round performance from Abercynon today. Some cracking tries being scored by James Nicholas who went over twice, Dion Sheehan who went over 3 times, Jake Rattray, Janes Jones, Bradley Francis, Sam Evans and Jack Cullen. James Nicholas & Dion Sheehan also kicked a conversion apiece.
many thanks to all for a brilliant tour which went smoothly with very few hiccups...
