Abercynon under 11's were invited to the Merthyr tournament as the first fixture of the season. It was a long day with teams form Treharris, Nelson, Tonyrefail, Brecon and Merthyr taking part. The first game of the day was against Treharris where Cynon came away with win 3-0. The second game was against Merthyr who wanted to win their own Tournament. It was physical encounter but the Abercynon team came out on top 2 - 1. It was a short rest before they faced a tough Brecon team who Cynon had lost to in the previous season to be knocked out of the Heart of Wales Cup. Again this was another close game with Cynon taking the spoils 1 - 0. After a long deserved rest we came up against Tonyrefail who were getting better as the tournament went on. They went into the first half 1 try to nil before cynon regrouped and won 3 - 1. The final game of the tournament against Nelson was cancelled due to Nelson taking a lot of injuries during the day which. Cynon started the season as they had finished the last with being crowned Tournament winners.

The first fixture of the season for the Abercynon under 10's and 11's was the Merthyr tournament. It was a long day with teams form Treharris, Nelson, Tonyrefail, Brecon and Merthyr taking part.

The Under 10's won 2 of their 5 games with Harry Landeg and Leon Grant getting on the scoreboard.

The Under 11's played Treharris first where Cynon came away with a 3-0 win. The second game was a physical encounter against the home side with Abercynon coming out on top 2 - 1. It was a short rest before they faced a tough Brecon team that Cynon had lost to in the previous season's Heart of Wales Cup. Again this was another close game with Cynon taking the spoils 1 - 0. After a deserved rest Tonyrefail where up next. They went into the first half 1 try to 0 before Cynon re-grouped and won 3 - 1. Unfortunately the final game against had to be cancelled as injuries took their toll on the Nelson side and Cynon started the season as they had finished the last being crowned Tournament winners.

Today we were away to Nelson and came away 42 - 28. The first half saw Nelson come out and play some good rugby which led to them scoring the first try of the game. Cynon responding with some good forward play which allowed their backs to play some good rugby but unfortunately the Nelson defence kept a clean sheet going into half time 21 - 0. The second half went to Abercynon who came out and played a high tempo game which Nelson had no answer for only scoring one try to Abercynon's six. The tries for Abercynon came for Zach Byard, Nathan Howell, Ben Breakspear, Connor Jones and two for Thomas Bradwick. All the Cynon tries were convertedby Zach Byard

Sunday 23rd March

Under 11's Pontypridd 40 - Cynon 0

Despite the scoreline these Cynon youngsters can hold their heads high because they gave 110% across the board. They tackled ferociously and played some lovely running rugby but unfortunately they were up against a very strong Ponty team.

Under 11's Abercynon 15 - Pontyclun 20

A fiercely contested game with both teams giving their all. Cynon were 4 tries to 1 down at half time but came back really well in the second half to score 2 unanswered tries. The forwards really got stuck in with some excellent rucking and some lovely interplay with the backs, who showed excellent pace. Cynon's tries scored by Luke Price, Ethan White and Connor Wilkins.

Under 11’s Abercynon 33 – Gilfach Goch 35

An excellent display from both these teams with lovely passing and running all round.

Cynon scored some cracking tries and were camped on Gilfach’s try line towards the end of the game for some time but were denied that winning try by the final whistle. Cynon’s try scorers were Liam Davies 2, Ricki Pugh, Kurtis Williams and Luke Price with 2 conversions from Matthew Evan and 1 apiece from Liam Davies and Ethan White.

Under 11's Abercynon 5 - Tondu 45

A good game against very tough opponents with all the boys doing their best . Cynon's try came from Luke Price.

Under 11's Abercynon 15 - Ystrad Mynach 10

A very good victory for cynon in this tight match which saw both teams play some good rugby. Luke Price went over for 2 of cynons tries with the other coming from Ethan White.

Under 11's Abercynon 15 - Rhymney 5

Cynon did well to win this fearcely contested game which saw Luke Price cross the line twice and Rhys Jones scoring in his debut appearance. A great effort from the whole team.
