I’ve visited Kauai many times and stayed in B&Bs, condos, cottages, and resorts. My favorite place of all of those is Hale Makai Cottages near Waniha Bay on the north shore. The cottages are charming and comfortable, full kitchens, cable TV and telephone, lush grassy grounds, an uncrowded beach within shouting distance, and a Wi-Fi network.
Some of Kauai’s best beaches are just minutes away, including the famous Tunnels Beach. You drive through the small north shore town of Hanalei and along a beautiful road with ocean views to get here.
