“Whether it be a speeding fine or a parking penalty, the law and the rules are effectively the same: When the sign is wrong the fine is wrong”
The law says that: “a person shall not be convicted of driving a motor vehicle on the road at a speed exceeding the limit is indicated by means of such traffic signs as are mentioned.”
“If you believe you have been wrongly accused of speeding or infringing a parking restriction? Take time to read the advice on this site, you may find we need to talk.”
What the Courts say about Richard Bentley:
District Judge,
12th October 2006:
“Itmust be said at once that Mr Bentley’s experience is
extensive & his knowledge of road signs is encyclopaedic.
He is just the man one would want on one’s side when entering
what is undoubtedly a legislative jungle.
District Judge,
24th July 2006:
“Mr Bentley’s ... extensive knowledge of the regulations
and statutory requirements is formidable.”
What the government says about defective signing:
“The use on Public highways of non-prescribed signs
which have not been authorised by, or on behalf of, the
Secretary of State, is illegal. Authorities who so use
unauthorised signs act beyond their powers”.
