Unzip (extract) the folder. Leave the application in the unzipped folder with the BearboatSP Libs untouched. These ancillary files are necessary for the functioning of the program and should be in the same folder with the application.

 

BearboatSP will probably remain in active development for the entirety of the year 2012. It is an upgrade to BearboatPro and offers more flexibility and convenience in bringing designs to life. Some additional functionality is planned.

 

Kayak Design Software

The BearboatSP has been released. It is the successor to BearboatPro.


BearboatSP is an upgrade to BearboatPro and much of the program is identical. Major changes include more powerful stability evaluation tools, an improved method for specifying the deck profile in Sideview, and more convenient ways to both start a new design and return to work on older designs. John Winters’ KAPER analysis has been added.  Designs previously created in BearboatPro can be opened in BearboatSP and will be automatically converted to the new format that is used for BearboatSP designs.


A manual for BearboatSP has been posted. It will be seeing changes over the next few months as more documentation is created.


Please report bugs. The more “reproducible” they are, the easier to fix. If you have ideas of how BearboatSP could be improved, drop me an email.


BearboatSP© is free and can be shared with friends. This is non-commercial software. This software is capable of assisting in the design of canoes and other small craft.

The Mac application is downloaded as a dmg. After the download, drag the BearboatSP file from the virtual disk to the Application folder

Someday may be able to produce a Linux version but not anytime soon.

Bearboat Print is a Windows only program. If you do the design on a Mac or on Windows and you need paper printouts of the cross-sections, you have to do the printing on a Windows machine using this software. The main program creates a file that this program uses to print out the cross-sections on paper.

I have been happy using iWeb and the Apple servers to deliver my web content but that company has decided to discontinue iWeb and get out of the web hosting business. I have learned enough HTML to create a website on my own and have started to face the daunting task of getting a satisfactory web hosting service provider. Apple provided good service. It is very difficult to know how reliable and useable other web hosting service providers are.


Anyway, I have no choice but to move on. This site will die on June 2012. Bookmark the new site (link to the right). There are more current versions of BearboatSP on the new site. This site is basically “frozen”.
