BearboatSP (Beta)
Unzip (extract) the folder. Leave the application in the unzipped folder with the BearboatSP Libs untouched. These ancillary files are necessary for the functioning of the program and should be in the same folder with the application.
BearboatSP is the successor to BearboatPro. The program is workable now. The program will probably remain in active development for the entirety of the year 2009. The program is really an upgrade to BearboatPro and offers more flexibility and convenience in bringing designs to life.
Kayak Design Software
The beta for BearboatSP has been released.
BearboatSP is an upgrade to BearboatPro and much of the program, at this point, is identical. Major changes include more powerful stability evaluation tools, an improved method for specifying the deck profile in Sideview, and more convenient ways to both start a new design and return to work on older designs. John Winters’ KAPER analysis has been added. (Matt Broze has been very helpful to me in explaining the fundamental equations that automate this process) Designs previously created in BearboatPro can be opened in BearboatSP and will be automatically converted to the new format that is used for BearboatSP designs.
A manual for BearboatSP has been posted. It will be seeing changes over the next few weeks as the program matures. It is hard to really write a manual at this time because the program is under active development and, to some degree, changing in ways that I cannot completely anticipate.
Since the program is under development, it is an EXCELLENT time for feedback. Please report bugs. The more “reproducible” they are, the easier to fix. If you have ideas of how BearboatSP could be improved, drop me an email.
BearboatSP© is free and can be shared with friends. This is non-commercial software. This software is capable of assisting in the design of canoes and other small craft.

The Mac application is downloaded as a dmg. After the download, drag the BearboatSP file from the virtual disk to the Application folder
Parts of the manual still refer to the BearboatPro rather than the BearboatSP way of doing things. It will take a while to completely upgrade. In particular the tutorials are not tuned to BearboatSP.
I do not have a computer running Linux so I can do no testing, but have included this version on the off-chance that it might actually work. Please email me your experience. This has not worked in the past.
