The Father Arseny Society

Father Arseny Society was founded by an ecumenical group of men in Lincoln, Nebraska who have been meeting weekly for several years for fellowship, discussion and mutual support.  The group also began to engage in charitable activities in Lincoln.  Ultimately, the members challenged themselves to stop talking about spirituality and the state of the post-modern world and begin doing something about it.  We challenged ourselves to pray, to serve and to join together in prayer.  In February 2006, we came together as the Father Arseny Society and devoted ourselves to studying the life of the great Father Arseny as a way of learning how to be light in a dark, fallen world.  Father Arseny’s life was one of extreme humility, prayer and service to the lost and fallen around him. This is how we wish to live our lives.

One of the principles that we live by is regular common prayer.  FAS maintains a website that contains important information about our group.  To access the site, click here. Because the material on the pages is personal, it is password protected. (Please contact a member for information about how to log onto the pages, or join the email list, a “yahoogroup,” listed below.)  The webpage also contains the prayer that all Society members pray each morning at 10:00 AM, and our Blog which contains information for our prayer lists.

Click here to see a brief, if a little boring, video in which member, Richard Leiter explains the founding of the group.

We also maintain a “yahoogroup” for email communication.  To join, click here.
