Below are samples and links to the scripts of a countdown timer in a variety of styles. I first found a javascript code for a countdown timer at www.javascriptkit.com but it only counted down to a specified date, so I modified it to add the ability to countdown to a date and time, then modified it some more into the variety of styles that are sampled below.
iWeb '08 (version 2.0; part of iLife '08) makes it easy to insert HTML code into your web pages directly from iWeb using the Insert>HTML Snippet menu command (or go to the bottom toolbar and click on “Web Widgets” then select “HTML Snippet”). Note: the scripts for these timers have been tested and will show up and work appropriately on the browsers noted below. On Safari version 2.0.x, some of the coding used is NOT supported and so the codes will not display appropriately. They do work appropriately on Safari 3.0.4 on Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) and on Safari 3 (Public Beta) on both a Mac running OS 10.4.9 and later, and a PC running Windows XP and Vista.
