Address Actions 0.2
Address Actions 0.2
UPDATE 23 October 2008: I am not doing any more work on Address Actions for now. The current version will not work on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.
Address Actions works with plain text address information. Select an address in an email, webpage or other text, then choose Address Actions from the Services menu to add it to your Address Book, or display maps for Australian addresses.
New in version 0.2
•self-contained application bundle, with nothing extra to install
•application now has standard menus, including standard Cut, Copy and Paste commands and keyboard shortcuts
•built as a Universal application to run natively on Intel Macs (although only basic tests have been run on an Intel machine).
It is early days for Address Actions, with plenty of work still to be done, and lots of potential for enhancement. However, power users may find it worth a look now, and Cocoa or Perl developers might like to contribute to the project.
Known issues include:
•Application is very slow to start up (hence it is recommended you start it at login)
•Many address formats are not yet handled correctly
•Maps are only implemented for Australia (using www.whereis.com.au).
Address Actions is an open source project, released under the GNU General Public License. Source code is included in the download.
