I am a PhD candidate studying American Politics and Applied Political Methodology, with Formal Political Theory as a minor field. My dissertation research focuses on legislative oversight of bureaucratic agencies across different institutional contexts. I develop a formal model of delegation and oversight which proposes that oversight is not solely dependent on legislative capacity, but is also conditional on an initial delegation of discretion to the executive branch. In order to test the institutional implications of the model, I scrutinize it against data from the 50 U.S. states. I’m building this site slowly, so please bear with me as I edit and add to it.
