Rivergarden Gallery
Martin Riwnyj January 10 - April 10, 2008

Denville, NJ -  – Rivergarden Gallery in Denville, New Jersey is proud to present “Fantasmas” the work of internationally acclaimed Argentine artist Martín Riwnyj which will be on view from Monday January 14th through Wednesday April 9th. With Ukrainian and Italic ancestry Martín has what Rafael Squirru calls the mystic vein of the Slavic world, which he displays in his urban landscape inspired paintings in which human and animal figures move like ghosts through a dream.

Born in Buenos Aires in 1972, Riwnyj has witnessed a tremendous amount of change within his own surroundings and around the world. His work broadly reflects the experiences of his travels and his wandering spirit. According to Squirru we are able to experience architectonic views of different cities from around Europe, depending on the period of his work.

Squirru goes on to mention that because Riwnyj works with characters that are phantasmagorical in nature, figures which border on being translucent, they have the visual characteristic which gives the images a certain Baroque levity. This goes against the weighty sensation which characterizes the art of the classics, and are sensations which are given at the haptic level.

He has won notable awards for his work and has been the subject of major one man exhibitions in Milan, Paris, Rome, Florence, Buenos Aires, Panama, Madrid all within the last two years. Additionally many of his works are in the permanent collection of the Art Appreciation Foundation. He’s been the subject of three books which have been published recently.

Rivergarden Gallery is proud to present this one man show of the work of this extraordinary artist and visionary. For further information contact
