Guitar Maker
Guitar Maker
Over the years I have come across a variety of ideas and opinions on what is or is not a good guitar. With so many variables between each instrument and how differently they can perform from one guitarist to the next I turned to the type of guitar that appealed to my tastes.
There are many guitars of makers both past and present that I find inspiring but it was the Granada School that really gripped me, not only in the way these guitars sound and play but also in the way these guitars are constructed. I was always drawn to a quality within these instruments, a power and sonority second to none, guitars whose tone and colours are not robbed in the name of volume yet are still able to project well and fill the rooms they are played in.
After visiting some of the small workshops in this enchanting city and seeing some inspirational methods of construction I decided to move there in order to gain a deeper understanding of this tradition. My time there was well spent and now, having returned to Scotland I am employing these methods to my guitars. The guitars I make are open and easy to play, rich in tone and I am told have the “Granada sound”.
