RU Clogging
The annual Radford University Clogging Event was founded by Christina L. Hall in the year 1999. What started as a small one room clogging workshop for locals has grown into a multi-room clogging workshop, crowd pleasing clogging showcase and challenging competition that reaches out to people across the region.
Over 200 people a year come out to enjoy this exciting event. Instructors have included: Jeff Parrott, Monika and Patrick Priddy, Josh King, Joel Harrison, Jeff Hill, Anna Wells and more. This workshop is loved by many for its laid-back feel and welcoming appeal. The purpose of the annual RU Clogging Event is to “Keep the Tradition Alive!” and it has done so for ten years and continues to grow strong!
The Radford University Clogging Team (RU Cloggers) is the host of the RU Clogging Event. The team was also founded by Christina (1998). Initially a small interest meeting on RU’s campus, it has blossomed into a clogging team that is known for their dedication to keeping the tradition of clogging alive. RU Cloggers is a melting pot of dancers from various backgrounds including clogging, tap, hip-hop, folk, etc. Most members of the team are students on campus, but community members are also welcome to join in the fun.
RU Cloggers offers beginning lessons on campus to those new to clogging and also intermediate and advanced classes to serve the needs of the experienced cloggers on campus. RU Cloggers have earned many awards including an over-all win at the Ultimate Dance Competition in King, NC, and a first place win at the Spring Fling Competition in Gatlinburg, TN. RU Cloggers continue to keep the tradition of clogging alive by taking part in cultural events on campus and around Southwest Virginia.
