The demolition was messy as you will see in the upcoming slideshow, Several layers of sheet rock were removed along with  the old plaster and lathe. The volunteer demo crew was up to the task and included Jack Barben, Carey Pennington, Paul McCreary, Helaine Honig, David Crocker, Edith Sze Savadove, Moya Vazquez and Shay Wotring.

The Saturday crew included Justin James,Laura Sargent, Karen Hill, Shell, Moya Vazquez, Anisha Shankar, and Dan Zak. Professional carpenter Apple of Odyssey Builders was a great help. Framing of the support structure and actual installation of the yoga walls was accomplished along with tidying up the Center for reopening  the following day.

We also wish to thank all the  donors for their generous financial contributions to this project. Without their funding we would not have been able to do the remodeling at this time. The people who actually paid for the 7 wall panels are:

Our hope is that before October we can raise enough funds to not only complete the remaining 5 panels on the east wall but also install 12 panels on the west wall as well. We estimate that we need to raise $3400 to complete the new wall project for the main studio. Anyone who wishes to contribute to this project can make a contribution for new wall panels. Each panel costs approximately $200 which includes the maple walls, hooks, and insulation. All the remaining work of milling the raw sheets. demolition of existing walls, removal of old walls installation of new walls is done with voluntary labour.

I hope you enjoy the photos, particularly the ones with all the dust in the air. I hope this give you a feeling of what this fun project was like.  Enjoy the new walls!
