Danny the Catalan Chef - 5 x 24 mins, HD
This original series was produced for the Living in Spain channel. In the programmes we meet Danny who is a chef in one of Barcelona’s busy hotels. Food and cooking is used as vehicle to visit the city that Danny has lived in all his life. We also get to meet some foreigners who have moved to Spain and now call it home. It was Danny’s first TV appearance. I produced, shot and edited the series in HD on a very lo-budget. You can watch the whole of this programme here.
Example of rushes shot using Letus Extreme 35mm Adapter
I put this together as an example of the sort of difference using a 35mm adapter can make to rushes. The adapter allows you to use 35mm prime lenses. This was shot on HDV but the adapter can be mounted on the EX1 XDCAM HD and very shortly on the the F330 with a new relay lens being produced. Although working with the adapter changes the way you film it does, I think, lend itself to HD.
DoP for AN Post Cycle Race Advertisment
DoP on a commercial for the Irish Post Office, filming for 3 days in Majorca during a cycle race in which their team was competing. I was chosen by Camino Media for my skills in documentary and for my understanding of shooting with XDCAM. Together with a cameraman experienced in shooting from a motorcycle it was shot in HD with the F330 and an EX1.
EuroGames 2008 Barcelona
A short film made to celebrate and be a souvenir for the participants and organisers of the games. I shot about 70% of it using the Letus Extreme and I am very pleased with the look. I filmed it over 3 days and edited it in a day, it was ready for the closing ceremony. The YouTube version of the video was rated as Spain’s 25th most viewed video on the day it was posted.
Amnesty International - Ireland
Made for Amnesty International in Ireland. The original idea of a friend and colleague of mine called Will MacNeil. The idea was picked up by Amnesty in Ireland and we went over and shot it for them in May. Filmed on XDCAM HD at 25p and then printed back to 35mm at Framestore in London. The commercial premiered with the film "The boy in the Striped Pyjamas" on September the 4th and will continue to be shown before the film at the Cineworld cinema in Dublin thanks to the support of Miramax.
