Over the weekend, everyone helped Dad out in the backyard while he finished putting in the sprinklers. Richard would dig out a trench and Luke would faithfully go behind him and try and fill it back up. It took months and months to finish the job and some help from Uncle Nate and Joe but at last we have lots of sprinklers that work! They make great big mud puddles in our backyard and that is why you see a picture of Luke in the Laundry sink, “meaming-up” as he calls it. He uses that phrase whenever you start singing the cleaning up song. At first, Luke was a bit worried that I was putting him in the sink and not the tub. But he was so muddy I did not want to carry him through the house. The sink ended up being a perfect fit!
Luke is growing up so fast. I especially love it when he says a new word or phrase like, “Minute Mommy.” (meaning, I will do what you say in a minute Mom.) or “Thank-you Mommy, Welcome!” (he has not figure out that Thank-you and Welcome are two different things). He also loves the alphabet and is always going on a letter hunt. He has found that there are words and letters all over the place like on his car seat, the shopping cart, on the road etc. He can identify most of the letters and I also just found out that he can identify a circle, triangle, star, square and heart (hark he calls it). Poor kid has a teacher as a mother and I am always quizzing him to see what he knows.
Luke also loves going to church and especially Nursery. Today, the nursery leader brought Luke to me because he needed a diaper change but Luke would not have it. The thought of leaving Nursery early was to much for him to handle. He clung to the nursery leaders neck, looked at me and cried, “No Mommy!” and then exclaimed, “Bye Mommy! Love you! Have fun!” I finally got him to come with me to change his diaper and when we returned to his beloved Nursery he walked in, threw up his arms and said, “Hooray!” Luke is always wanting to be where the party is, or maybe Luke is the party.
