Richard & Susan Johnson established Camden Pottery in 1976 and began making their signature sculpted blueberry design. Richard & Su studied art at the University of Southern Maine and opened their studios after completing their Bachelor's degree in 1973. As a counterpart to his pottery , Richard creates ceramic sculptures and whimsical decorative pieces. "Merlin" is often the subject of his sculptures, however one will often find mythological figures along-side figurative studies in terracotta. "Merlin" and other figures have been created as bronze sculptures to further diversify his working media.

Susan Johnson has been capturing the Maine Coast with her watercolors since her childhood in Spruce Head, Maine. The Johnson Gallery displays her original watercolors, pastels, and limited edition prints. Preferring an open-air studio, Su travels the Maine and Canadian coast and works on-location. Monhegan Island, Port Clyde, Spruce Head, and Stonington, Maine and Grand Manaan, Canada are favorite sites to render with her paints. She has also painted the local lighthouses: Curtis Island, Owl's Head, Monhegan, and Marshall Point.
