Labor of Love 9-5-10
Rev. David Alexander
A labor of love is doing something without the motivation of money or personal gain. We love to do it, we would do it anyway!
To labor in vain, in contrast, is to work without “spirit.” Our life proceeds from the metaphysical, the “meta” or invisible to the “physical”, the visible. If we are doing anything with great love and passion, the “father within”, the spirit, does the work. If we don’t come from spirit, what we do really is real labor and we are doing it on our own small self. It is helping no one. When you see someone who loves what they are doing, it is clear that it is a labor of love.
We all have something inside us that we are to give birth to. Are we living the life that we want? What is it that you love to do? What do you want to give birth it? What isn’t complete in your life until you do it?
The questions that we ask determine the quality of the life that we live. And the questions and answers determine the consciousness of our life and therefore, produce the results in our life.
A better question to ask is this, “Am I living the life that Life wants to live through me?
What is the quality and nature of the life that Life wants to live through me?
Am I being a place through which Life can express?
These questions create instant “space” where we can really contemplate that we have a divine gift to give the world.
We are each a manifestation of the love of the Universe. We are each a labor of love of the Universe. Are we making ouerselves available to the call of this labor of love? Are we knowing ourselves as love, truth, harmony, abundance, wisdom and peace?
Questions to Ponder:
1. What is your labor of love to give to the world?
2. Do you truly believe that the Universe is expressing through you?
