Truth is a Journey, Not a Destination 9-19-10
Pastor D.E. Paulk
Our speaker is the Senior minister of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit on Atlanta, GA. And he says that his ministry is New Thought inclusive!
A while ago, Pastor Paulk heard a voice, “Tell me that you don’t know.” It took awhile, but eventually, Pastor Paulk said, “OK, I don’t know.” He said that immediately ideas, people and books flooded his life and there was a new, overwhelming knowing that was available to him.
Our journey is a constant one, not a destination. He learned that we never stop learning and to keep questioning.
In the Bible, it is clear growth and questioning was an essential part of the spiritual life.
• Paul, in his epistles of the churches, grew in understanding over the years. He moved from thinking that Christ was only in a few to realizing that the Christ was in us all.
• Peter started by believing that Jesus was a person and progressed to knowing that the Christ Principle was awake in Jesus.
• And even Jesus himself grew. When a Canaanite woman asked for his help, he rebuffed her twice before realizing that he was the Christ and above human prejudice.
There was a difference between Jesus the man and the Christ. The Christ is within and through us all.
Questions to Ponder:
1. Discuss the idea that the Christ expressed through Jesus. Do you see the Christ expressing through you?
