Things I love about motherhood

1) The way God uses my children to reveal Himself to me.
2) The purpose they give me.
3) The funny things they say.
4) The affection. Nothing is better than a big hug or a little hand slipping into mine.
5) Watching them grow as people. I am thrilled beyond belief when I see my kids start to do the things we’ve been trying to teach them without being reminded.
6) Watching them as they discover new things. It’s like reliving my own childhood.
7) Watching as they learn.
8) Having people to help with chores.
9) The way they get excited about things adults would never care about.
10) Watching them with their dad. It makes me love him even more every time I see them together.

This reminded me of a cute story that includes lots of my reasons for loving motherhood.
A few months ago we had some work done on the car so we had a rental for a couple of days. We ended up with a small SUV and the boys were all squished together in the back seat. I was less than thrilled with the set-up because getting them in the car and buckled was nearly impossible because their seats were so close together.
As we were driving out of the rental-car parking lot the boys were marveling at all the cool “features”.
In their most excited voices they said:
“I love this! In our van there is so much room in between us we can’t even touch. In this car we are so close we can just hold hands the entire time.”

(In our van each seat has it’s own air vent above it.)
“Mom, you know how in our van we have that air that blows right on us? This is way better because it doesn’t blow right on our faces.”

For the rest of the ride home they asked what each button did, each light represented, and each cubby was for.

Honestly, it was one of my favorite days. It reminded me of what a good attitude and a little perspective can do.
I just love my kids!
