It rained all night, but by the time we got in our taxies at 6 the clouds had cleared enough to make white patterns on the dark rock face and pine forests of the mountains rising steeply above us. This time we could see the Ganges as it plunged below us. It was a spectacular ride through two long gorges and beside the Ganges when it broadened out in between the gorges. And then we climbed steeply up to 6000 feet again and in a dense fog flew along the Tehri road in our line of four taxies.
We arrived in time for a special dinner at the Hotel Dev Dar Woods, our farewell meal because we are leaving for Delhi on the Tuesday and flying home the next day. Kathe had made everyone a knitted bracelet or key holder out of brightly colored Japanese string as a memory of the trip. The lights went out in the middle of the meal as they have been going out for periods for the last ten days. The trip is almost over.
