The second group of eight arrived today at 4:30 a.m. at Katunayaka Airport but because of miscommunication we didn’t get together until 1 p.m. when they woke up for lunch at the Mount Royal Hotel. As soon as they had eaten we left for a model village, where people from three villages who had lost their homes in the tsunami were put on some government land about 5 kilometers inland. Each house had a kitchen, living area, a bedroom and an attached bathroom with pit toilet with a garden plot outside. The people seemed very proud of their houses and were very friendly to us. The Sarvodaya Coordinator of the Bentota showed us around. After the hour drive back to the hotel we ate a full meal at the Mount Royal and fell asleep.
