Dear Redwood Parents and Students,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, express my excitement for the upcoming school year, and warmly welcome you to my class.  I bring with me many years of professional teaching and coaching experiences.

I was born and raised in sunny San Diego.  I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University and a teaching credential through Chapman University.

This is my seventh school  year at Redwood.  I spent the prior eight years at various locations through-out the Bay Area, including Carondelet High School in Concord, John Swett High School in Crockett, and Orinda Immediate School.

In addition to teaching, I have coached softball at the following locations: University of California at San Diego (pitching coach), head softball coach at Ygnacio Valley High School, John Swett High School, Founder and coach of the ASA “Shockers” organization, and my own private pitching academy and softball clinics.  I enjoy spending time with my family, going to the movies, board games, exercise (of course), and reading.  I live with my husband and two young children ages 12 & 13 in Marin County.

Significant facts about me:  I received a four-year softball scholarship to SDSU.  I am a Women’s ASA National Team Champion and received an All-American player award.  I was invited to the first time ever USA Women’s Softball Olympic Tryouts.

As a passionate physical educator I am interested in a sound quality education for every student, including a physical education program that has the following at its core:  The California State Standards for Physical Education; interpersonal and social development; the fostering of self-esteem; a commitment to lifelong learning; and the promotion of curiosity among young people.

WELCOME to my class and I look forward to meeting each of you!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Harris
